Synopsis
Wilma is a lonely
woman. She lives alone in her huge apartment and has little contact with the
world. She spends her days sitting in her living room staring out the window and
the pictures of her deceased dog. When a dog barks outside she comes to life and
quickly realizes how desertic her life is.
She plays the piano
to kill the time. But even that is a reminder of her loneliness. She spots her
next-door neighbors outside her window, hugging their little girl.
While gardening she
hears again the dog barking outside. She decides to venture out. In the hallway,
she comes across two young girls playing with a ball. They look happy but are
afraid of Wilma. Dismayed at their reaction she walks back to her place.
Jason, her
corporate son, visits her. The communication is awkward, stilted. Jason rambles
about his new clients. Losing patience, Wilma latches out. She wants to know how
come he is still not married and has no children.
Jason fails to
close the door properly as he leaves and the door swings back open. On the
landing above, the little girls’ ball rolls down the stairs and bounces off the
wall into Wilma apartment . . .
