Talents
Frederic Colier (Writer/Director) is a graduate of the Digital Film
Academy, NY. Desert Weeds is his second short. His first project, Of
Wanderlust, 2004, is still winning awards on the festival circuit (Best
Short Film in Houston, Fire Island). Hell Bent, will begin production in
Oct. Frederic has just finished shooting a music video for the Soul/Funk artist
Shu. He will make his directorial feature debut next spring with Big
Ropes, a psychological drama. Over the years, Frederic has produced no less
than half-dozen short films, and written and directed a dozen plays, notably
Barbed Wire Hearts, Heartbreak Tango; two novels, Barabane! Barabane!;
The Bosphorus Hug; and a collection of short stories, Cristianos y
Moros. He is the author of Playground for Talking Heads (Luminous
Press, release Nov 04).
Patricia Geri Russell (Louise Godard) was
last seen at the Views from the Avant Guard Series – 2003 New York Film
Festival in Jeanne Liotta’s Loretta and in a supporting role in director
Robert Redford’s Quiz Show. Desert Weeds marks her film debut as a
dramatic lead. It was followed last month by Madness of My Life, where
she appears as Alice, and Momentary Engineering. On the stage, she has
toured regionally and internationally and here in NYC with The Living Theater,
The Irondale Ensemble Project and The Alchemical Theater. She received her BFA
at the North Carolina School of the Arts after graduating from the Northside
High School of Performing Arts in Atlanta, Georgia. She is developing her
theatrical solo piece Views of Life from the Seat of a Bike and Other
Dangerous Places – A New York City Story.
Mike Williams
(Craig Churchill) is a graduate of the
Actors Studio, MFA program at the New School in NYC. Before moving to the
screen, he appeared in Off Broadway and Regional Theater productions. Over the
last two years, he has appeared as supporting and leading roles in three other
independent film projects, Running Deep (feature film), To Love,
and Of Wanderlust. Desert Weeds is his third project with Frederic
Colier.
Sayra Player (Susan Hanley) has spent the last year at the
Flea Theatre, where she was seen in Mac Wellman's Cellophane, Polly
Draper's Getting into Heaven, Len Jenkin's Like I Say, Gary
Winter's The Lake and Kevin Oakes' The Vomit Talk of Ghosts. She
also helped workshop both AR Gurney's O' Jerusalem with Jim Simpson and Gods over Broadway with
Sam Gold. Last summer she performed in her third Strindberg play, as the title
role in Miss Julie in her hometown, Kansas City, Missouri. Desert
Weeds marks her first filmic lead role. Last Spring, she was the teacher in
David Schwimmer's new movie Duane Hopwood.
Eric Giovon (D.P.) is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts.
One of his latest films, Of Wanderlust, a short
film, written and directed, by novelist Frederic Colier, won awards at the
WorldFest Houston and Fire Island Film Fest. Another short film, Alchera,
received Best Dramatic Short Film at Southern Forum Film Festival in
Charlotte, NC. Last June,
he completed a 35mm Music Video called Kicking The Heart Out for the band
Rogue Wave, on Sub Pop Records. He is currently shooting his second
feature film called LIARS. To
date, he has photographed 22 short films, 3 documentaries, 4 music video, and 2
feature films, LIARS and My Pet, Ophelia.
