         Altered Ego Review                          One-act Plays

"The Proposal" is gripping one-act play, by Frederic Colier, concerning frustrated writer, Justin, and his partner of five years, Kate. Set in a remote cabin in an area steeped in violent myth, Justin sketches the outlines for a new novel as Kate arrives, shaken by local tales of violent crimes of passion, expecting him to propose. Nothing is so straight forward, and when Justin's proposal is inadequate, Kate questions his love for her and Justin questions her relationship with his agent. Kate is driven to extreme measures to ensure she is not a woman scorned.

"Heartbreak Tango" an one-act play by Frederic Colier.  A gut-wrenching misunderstanding between two Navy seamen. Art has been dumped by his girl friend without warning. He is heartbroken, and his pain is incurable. Cecil offers a friendly hand to help him heal his wounds.  But soon Cecil grows distant with Art's pain. Art's confession reveals that perhaps it is not him who suffers most.

"Firedamp" by Frederic Colier. Guy is sick of his stagnant life. Spending his days reaping the black gold from a coalmine has lost all his interest. He dreams of making fortune, abroad. He asks his moody companion, Ritchie, to go along with him.  But Ritchie sees life otherwise.

"Barbed-Wired Hearts" by Frederic Colier. The play tells the tales of a Michigan car worker family, who struggles to come to term with a long lasting unavowed secret: mainly that Bill, the father, is not the father of his own son.

"The Undertaking" by Frederic Colier.

"Sharing Circle " by Frederic Colier.
