Projects in Progress

Altered Ego Entertainment  has four feature projects in development, Dinosaur Park, The Greatest Gig in the Sky, 1975, and Made in China.  Penned by Frederic Colier, these dramas are planned to be shot  back to back starting Fall 2009.

NEWS:

Made in China depicts the struggle of two brothers, Roy and Mike, in a small town of Michigan. The brothers live together in relative harmony until the day Roy loses his job, following the closing of the factory which relocates to China. Roy has been living at the mercy of Mike's cruelty, mainly since Mike has been responsible for Roy's diving accident that has left him confined to a wheelchair.  Now Roy toys with the idea to move to Maine, alone. 2010

Dinosaur Park. Adapted from the 2002 play, The Proposal, Dinosaur Park trails the sad outcome of a romantic gone wrong over one night.  Justin, a blocked and frustrated writer, has resolved to propose to Kate, his long-term girlfriend, and so he plans to surprise her during a romantic weekend in the country.  The only problem, the night before proposing, his long-gone inspiration returns.

Callen Williams is attached to play Justin; Laura Benson, Marlene. Frederic Colier directed and also played the part of Karl.  Max Shuppert was at the Camera Helm. 2010

M & N which won the Panasonic Filmmaker Award at the IFP Market 2007 (in the Emerging Narrative category) and was a finalist at the Sundance Lab 07, has been adapted to an American setting. The original version was aimed to be shot in France and in French.  The title, which loses completely its French double-meaning, has been replaced by 1975.  Instead of dealing with the French-Algerian war that ended in 1962, the new story focuses on the Vietnam war, which officially ended in 1975.  Production is forecast for Spring 10.  (Check Pre-Production Page).

The new version follows a guilt-ridden old woman, Mary Rae, who after years of alienation with her daughter, Faith, desperately tries to reconnect with her.  Problems arise when Faith refuses to allow her mother in her life.  Instead, Mary Rae finds herself under the care of a middle-aged Asian woman. Mary Rae never recovered from her son's death during the Algeria in 1962.  The co-habitation and the quest for her daughter only marks the beginning of a painful journey towards awareness and acceptance. 2010

In Development:

Big Rope (Jettisoned)  narrates the story of a couple on the verge of breakdown following the disappearance of their daughter. Suspected of sexually abusing his daughter, Stan falls prey to his wife, Amanda, and her thirst for truth during a deceptive boat outing. With nothing to lose, Stan fights back to prove his innocence, even at the cost of sinking everything. 2011

The Greatest Gig in the Sky. A weary and frail cocoon is about to break, and the sixty-year-old butterfly (Judith) emerges to take her first and last flight into life. But John, her defrocked brother-in-law is watching her.  Wanda O"Connell is attached to play Judith, David McCandless, John. To be directed by Frederic Colier with Max Shuppert at the camera. 2010
